Do you provide after hour emergency service?
Yes, we have a service technician on call for emergencies. Please call 303-530-3333 and leave your name, phone number and a brief description of the electrical problem. The on call technician will then be paged, obtain your information, and return your call. Please be advised that all after hour service calls are overtime rates and C.O.D.
I recently bought an older home and found out it has aluminum wiring—is this a problem?
Aluminum wiring can be a fire hazard if not treated properly. Excel Electric Inc. has repaired many houses with this issue.
Can I lower my electric bill by using different light bulbs?
Yes, by using either LED or CFL bulbs, you can save ¼ to ⅓ off of your electric bill. Either bulb is more energy efficient, lasts longer (LED life approximately 50,000 hrs/CFL life approximately 10,000 hrs), and does not produce as much heat compared to incandescent light bulbs.
Why should I have a lighting control system?
Lighting control systems save energy. The average residential savings is approximately 20% yearly and commercial savings is approximately 40% yearly. A system enhances comfort, is very convenient to use, and also provides safety and security.
I have an older home and would like to have some lighting/shading control options. Is there anything available?
Lutron Electronics Co., Inc. has two systems available: Radio RA and Homeworks QS. This allows homeowners a control system without having the major expense of pulling wire throughout the house.
Are there many shade options if I choose to use Lutron shades?
Lutron offers many shade options. They offer motorized as well as manual shades. The line includes roller, drapery, roman, cellular and tensioned shades. They offer black out, dim-out, and sheer in many different colors. Shades can be programmed to open and close during peak hours for fading of items in a room and to save heating and cooling cost.
If I install a Lutron lighting system, how do I control my lights?
Lutron systems are controlled with an installed key pad. Lutron can now be controlled with apps on the IPhone or IPad. So, if you are away and think you left a light on or want to warm up the hot tub before you get home, there is an app to control those functions as long as they are on the system. There is also remote buttons for your car that you can turn house lights on in the comfort and security of your car.
